Job Title:
Technical Illustrator
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Technical Illustrator / Manual Designer with experience in developing high-quality technical illustrations and manuals for mechanical mining equipment. The role supports operations, maintenance, training, and compliance by translating complex engineering information into clear, accurate visual and written documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D technical illustrations, including exploded views, assemblies, and schematics for underground mining machinery.
- Design and compile operator manuals, maintenance and service manuals, parts catalogues, and technical training documentation.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and bills of materials (BOMs) to ensure technical accuracy.
- Maintain document control, version management, and updates in line with engineering changes.
- Ensure all documentation complies with OEM standards, MHSA requirements, and internal quality systems.
- Liaise with Engineering, Production, Service, and Training teams to gather and validate technical input.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or Certificate in Technical Illustration, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in technical illustration and manual design within a manufacturing or heavy equipment environment.
- Proven experience producing manuals for mechanical or industrial machinery.
- Proficiency in tools such as:
- SolidWorks Composer
- SolidWorks or Inventor
- AutoCAD
- Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
- Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and engineering drawings.
- Excellent written and visual communication skills in English.
